Ventnor skipper rocks rivals with three-wicket spell

First published in Sport

Mark Holmes rocked Bashley (Rydal) with a three-wicket new ball spell which set up an eventual win for Ventnor from a relatively low scoring affair at Newclose.

The Ventnor skipper had Bashley reeling at 23-4 before Nick baker (46) and Luke Webb (35) repaired the damage.

Sam Thomson (18) and Andy Neal (20) also chipped in before Adam Wilson (3-18) and Ian Hilsum (2-25) sent Bashley sliding back into troble at 118-8.

They were eventually dismissed for 150 – a total Ventnor passed losing seven wickets in the process.

Marc-Antony Eysele (25) and Tom Friend (39) did a lot of the spadework, but Ventnor owed much to Neil Westhorpe (24) before they got across the line.
