Folland Sports manager Danny Bowers hailed his side’s “killer instinct” after the second-half demolition of Petersfield Town on Saturday in their 6-1 victory at Love Lane.

Five goals after the restart saw the Planemakers tally their first points of the season, following a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Andover Town in their first match.

Michael Turvey notched a brace, Jamie Barron and Pat Nolan netted a goal apiece and substitute Richard Gregory scored the sixth after Ashley Jarvis opened the Hamble-based side’s account on the stroke of half-time.

Robert Tambling’s goal put Petersfield 1-0 up and Bowers sensed another defeat before his team were resurgent against Ian Saunders’s side.

Striker Ben Kneller was forced to play in goal after first-choice Ryan Gosney and back-up Sam Scrace were ruled-out through injury.

Kneller didn’t disappoint either, as he saved a penalty from Warren Hunt in the closing stages of the match after Ryan Fuller brought down Tambling in the box.

That has now ensured the versatile front-man has maintained his winning streak in the Folland net – this his fourth appearance as glovesman and his fourth win.

“When we went 1-0 down, I was thinking here we go again,” said Bowers.

“But credit to the lads, they were outstanding in the second half.

“Kneller was excellent in goal; his communication to the defence is brilliant.

“We had that killer instinct and I’m pleased to have got some points.

“We want to be up there with Blackfield & Langley, Winchester and Newport, so we were eager to get some points.”

Elsewhere, Winchester’s goal-scoring juggernaut came to a grinding holt at former manager Graham Kemp’s charges Hamworthy United.

Sam Wilson bagged his fifth goal in three games as City took the lead from the penalty spot, but ex-Winch man Ben Osborne levelled for the Dorset outfit to earn a point.

Newport beat Lymington Town 3-0 in a 10 minute undressing. Iain Seabrook’s double – one from the penalty spot on 80 minutes after Tom Scovell was brought down and the other on 71 minutes. Tom McInnes netted the intervening goal on 73 minutes.

Totton & Eling were well beaten 5-2 in Portsmouth by Moneyfields. Jamie Craven and Callum Oliver scored for Totton. Steve Hutchings and Alfie Rutherford netted a double each and Doug Rowe fired home as Money romped to victory.

Horndean and Bournemouth played out a 2-2 draw at Five Heads Road. Mark Smith and Lewis Stockford scored for the home team. Marc Fairbrother and Connor Doe scored for Bournemouth.

Brockenhurst were narrowly beaten by AFC Portchester 1-0 at Grigg Lane to ending their unbeaten start to the campaign – the all-important goal came from Andy Rinomhota.

A pulsating game in Wiltshire saw Bemerton Heath Harlequins win 4-2 against Christchurch.

Scott Joyce scored twice and Shaun Prentice and Tom Roberts from the spot bagged the other two for Ian Chalk’s side.

Harry Morgan, Mark Smith and Daniel Steer were on the scoresheet for Christchurch.
