Southern Electric twenty20 Cup finalists Lymington are on a high after a stunning 24 hours in which they lifted themselves off the foot of the Premier Division basement and stunned Havant with a remarkable 197-run chase to win their cup semi-final.

Skipper Simon Beetham will be anxious his side carry their new found confidence into tomorrow’s 50-over pennant match with St Cross Symondians at the Sports Ground.

“Suddenly there’s a buzz about the place, but there’s still a lot of work to do if we are to pull clear of the relegation zone, never mind win the twenty20,” Beetham warned.

A maiden Premier League hundred by Ben Rogers set up the six-wicket win over the Hampshire Academy which pulled Lymington off the bottom.

Then followed a stunning t20 Cup win over Havant when Lymington raced past the visitors’ 193-4 with five balls to spare.

“Everyone’s looking forward to the Ageas Bowl next Friday, so they’ll be a spring in everyone’s step tomorrow for sure,” Beetham added.

Seventh-placed St Cross Symondians, who lie one slot above Lymington in the table, are unchanged.
