Hampshire shooter Caroline Brownlie failed to qualify for the finals of the 10m air pistol at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow but still has a chance at the 25m event tomorrow.

In a field of 30 the Bishop’s Waltham-based atlhlete, who competes for Team Scotland, only managed 24th and a score of 351.

Brownlie trains at Itchen Valley Shooting Club and was competing at her second Commonwealth Games after her first at Delhi 2010.

The 36-year-old was the first female pistol shooter to represent Scotland at a the Games.

Before the competition she said: “In Glasgow I want to perform to a level that enables me to get into the final.”

Unfortunately she couldn’t perform to the level she wanted in the 10m and didn’t make the cut that sees the top eight qualify for the latter stages.

But she has another shot tomorrow as she competes in the 25m pistol women's qualifier.

The mum of three’s achievements include selection for the Scottish High Performance Squad for 2013, winning the 2013 British Pistol Club Championships with a PB and a new Scottish record, competed for GB in 2013 World Cup in Spain and finishing 5th in the Ladies British Championships 2013 as well as shooting a new Scottish record.
