RICHARD Hill leads Eastleigh into pre-season action against Swindon Town at the Silverlake Stadium tomorrow evening (Thursday, 7pm) admitting his summer signing spree may continue.

Recent captures James Constable, Jack Midson, Paul Reid, Craig Stanley and Ben Wright all featured in last night's 4-0 defeat by AFC Bournemouth and Hill does not rule out adding to his squad for their maiden Conference Premier campaign.

“We’re always going to be in the market for players that I believe will make a difference,” he stated.

“They have to be as good as we’ve already got, not necessarily better, or offer us something a little bit different.

“The trouble is we’re back to the silly season now with players who thought they were better than they are and agents telling them ‘don’t sign for a Conference club, I’ll get you a League club.’

“Suddenly in three weeks’ time some of these lads still won’t have got work because they’ve listened to their agents or had visions of grandeur themselves. It gets worse every year.

"The clever players are the ones who have found themselves guaranteed work and not had to scrabble around in pre-season.

"You can guarantee there will be players who will end up playing at a level they are probably better than. Some will be playing with players who are not as good as them, so they'll end up on a downward spiral."

Against Cherries, Hill gave a 75-minute run-out to 21-year-old Witney-born Lawson D’Ath, a former Reading youth midfielder who has previously trialled for Bristol Rovers.

Swindon – eighth in League One last term - were also in friendly action last night, beating Sydenhams Premier newcomers Petersfield Town 5-2 at Love Lane.

This coming Monday (July 21, 7.30pm) Mark Cooper’s Robins host Saints at The County Ground.

Admission at Eastleigh tomorrow is £8 adults, £4 concessions and free for under-12s.
