ADAM Rouse did Hampshire a favour with a match-winning innings on his home debut for Gloucestershire last night.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, released by Hampshire at the end of last season, starred with an unbeaten 35 from only 16 balls as Gloucestershire beat Kent by three wickets off the final ball of their T20 Blast match at Bristol.

Rouse came in at 89-5, after former Hampshire academy teammate Benny Howell departed for 26.

And he hit five fours and a six against an attack including ex Hampshire man David Griffiths as Gloucestershire chased down Kent’s 150-6.

Gloucestershire's win denied Kent the chance to join Hampshire in the South Division’s top four.

Hampshire are still top on run rate, despite last night’s defeat, and play Kent at Canterbury in their next T20 game on Friday.
