AUSTRALIA’s World Twenty20 hopes suffered another setback despite another impressive innings from Hampshire batsman Glenn Maxwell.
Maxwell, who returns to Hampshire as one of the county’s two T20 overseas players this year, blitzed a 22-ball 45 as Australia made 178-8 against the West Indies.
The 25 year-old hit a 33-ball 74 in a losing cause against Pakistan last weekend and his latest innings was also in vain as the Windies won by four wickets with two balls remaining.
Maxwell took two catches but captain Darren Sammy saw the Windies home with an unbeaten 34 from only 13 balls.
