HAMPSHIRE Cricket have been training with London Irish RFC following the launch of a commercial tie-up between the clubs.

Bubble football and boxing have already been incorporated into Hampshire’s pre-season and now rugby training with the Aviva Premiership club has helped prepare them for the forthcoming campaign.

David Balcombe, Matt Coles, Adam Wheater and Lewis McManus all trained with London Irish in Berkshire yesterday, under the guidance of forwards coach Glenn Delaney.

Reciprocal deals for members of both clubs will be available through exclusive offers for tickets, hospitality and merchandise.

Hampshire Cricket Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson said: “It’s an exciting partnership especially as both clubs draw large numbers of our fans and spectators from the same geographic areas.

"Cricket and rugby union are very much complementary sports and this is a partnership that has endless possibilities.  We are looking forward to working with London Irish for many years to come.”

London Irish Commercial Director, Jim O’Toole said: “We are always looking to engage with people from different sports and show them what we have to offer both on and off the field. The fact that our supporters will be able to watch some top quality cricket during the summer months will be greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with Hampshire Cricket.”
