Danny Briggs has been dumped from England's World Twenty20 squad.

The Hampshire slow left-armer has paid the price for last week's performance against Australia in Hobart, where he conceded 53 from his four overs.

Kent off-spinner James Tredwell and uncapped Lancashire slow left-armer Stephen Parry are in the 15-man squad instead. Joe Root and Moeen Ali also provide off-spin options.

Hampshire's dynamic opening batsmen, Michael Carberry and James Vince, missed the cut after being included in the provisional 30-man squad announced three weeks ago.

Carberry has also been left out of the ODI squad that plays the West Indies in the Caribbean later this month.

England World Twenty20 squad: Broad (Nottinghamshire-captain), Morgan (Middlesex - vice captain), Ali (Worcestershire), Bopara (Essex), Bresnan (Yorkshire), Buttler (Lancashire), Dernbach (Surrey), Hales (Nottinghamshire), Jordan (Sussex), Lumb (Nottinghamshire), Parry (Lancashire), Root (Yorkshire), Stokes (Durham), Tredwell (Kent), Wright (Sussex).

This is very poor selection, not sure why Danny Briggs is dropped for one bad day at the office ( small boundaries flat wicket). I guess he needs to move to another more fashionable county!

I feel for him very unfair

I was there on the second day of the Brisbane test. The talk was of how many England were going to score - 400+. Johnson was wayward and Carbury looked secure. Cook got out but it seem a minor hiccup. Then came the last over before lunch which they should have prevent through some tactical time wasting and Trott got out. Confidence visibly shifted. The rest we all know.
Carbury was not the worst by a long way and why he never played in the ODI's I don't know. That's his format more than tests. However, at his age it seems its not just KP whose England career is over.
With Danny getting similar treatment we need to look on the bright side which is a big bonus for Hampshire having the two of them available with the new faces. We wont have a similar farce as when KP was a "Hampshire player".
