BILLIARDS: Chandler’s Ford climbed to the top of the Southampton League after beating hosts and previous leaders Totton Rec 4-2.

It started well for Totton as Josh Barnes (38 break) beat Terry Azor (68) by only seven points.

Chandler’s fought back with Wayne Muddiman decisive in the aggregate score, as he beat Mike Kunzi by 66 points.

Tony Hannam gave his team the lead after beating Totton’s Brian Cannons. Totton’s Steve Allen then beat Daniel Zagaroli (67 and 38) to level.

It was left to Chandler’s Ray Smith to overcome Tony Aldridge by 85 points to seal the aggregate point and the win.

Hamble Social beat Churchills Eastleigh 5-1, but it could have been the other way around as Churchills Dave Baker beat Steve Cottrell in a good first pairing.

Hamble’s Will Mildenhall pipped Mike Henstredge by eight points and Tony Spridgeon beat Churchill’s Peter Green by seven.

Hamble’s Nick Wood (46) played some great containing safety shots to freeze out Derek Foster.

Sarisbury moved up into fourth place after winning the aggregate by one point against hosts Bitterne RBL for a 4-2 victory.

In the first game, Bitterne’s Paul Lawrence beat Dave Leeworthy by 105 points.

Sarisbury’s Norman Bradfield beat Paul Tavender to level, Bitterne’s Chris Pullen defeated Geoff Knapp, but Sarisbury’s John Oldfield beat Steve Boterhoek to level.

It was left to veteran Stan Pitts to beat Mark Stansmore to pinch the aggregate.

Curdridge RBL lost 4-2 at Hythe Social after winning the first two games.

Derek Fry beat Martin Crotty by nine points and Gwen Gamblin beat Brian Price.

Rob Tennant (30) v Clive Gamblin, Wayne Crotty (35 and 38) v Nick Alford and Wayne Chiverton v Brian Bull won the next three games for Hythe.
