Romsey, whose pitch was flooded, agreed to relinquish home advantage against Millbrook in Hampshire 1 – but were left to rue the decision after a 67-0 defeat.
The game got off to a slow start but sparked into life after a Millbrook penalty. Sonny Bedwell, Rich Colmer and Mike Randell ran in first-half tries, while Rich Colmer converted two as Brook turned around 22-0 up.
The second half saw Romsey continue to battle, taking quick penalties and quick line-outs to keep the home side on their toes. But Millbrook soon crossed the line in quick succession; stalwart number eight Mike Mulcahy touched down before influential front row Macca McNeish powered over.
Romsey’s defence began to weaken and, with the Millbrook forwards applying heavy pressure in the scrums, opportunities soon arose for more tries. Centre Dan Wade crashed over the line before flanker Garrie Silverthorn broke through several tackles to touch down.
Fly half Colmer and captain Mike Randell soon crossed the line for their second tries before Colmer brought up his hat-trick to go with his five conversions.
Team Solent are now in third place – their match at Alton postponed because of the rain.
