Hants delay coach appointment

Hampshire Chronicle: Chris Adams Chris Adams

Hampshire will not be appointing their new head coach until the New Year, writes SIMON WALTER.

The vacancy has come about following the decision to let Giles White concentrate on his role as director of cricket.

Interviewing for the post took place last month after Hampshire advertised for candidates with “success as a cricket coach at first-class or international level.”

The Daily Echo understands Chris Adams is not in contention for the post, despite revealing he is in talks with three counties.

“I can’t name them as it’s not fair, they are all varied roles,” Adams said. “I am committed to going back into coaching. It is about the right opportunity and not necessarily jumping on the first job that comes up.” Former Sussex captain Adams left his role as Surrey’s team director in June and is a good friend of Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove.
