Teenager Bashley (Rydal) all-rounder Ryan Higgins hit 80 off 84 balls but was unable to prevent England losing by three wickets to Pakistan in their second Tri-nations Under-19 one day international in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

Higgins hit a six and nine fours in his 80, holding the England innings together as the side slumped to 168 all out.

He was eventually sixth out at 122, after which Hampshire prospect Lewis McManus made 11 before being run out.

McManus, left out of the opening UAE match, snapped up three catches behind the stumps but Pakistan recovered from 32-4 to win.

Higgins had previously hit a five-boundary 23 as England posted 300-6 to beat the United Arab Emirates by 42 runs in their opening Tri-Nations tournament match.
