Stuart Holloway on the boil ahead of Lordshill 10k defence
Runners from across the region will descend on the Lordshill this Sunday for for the fourth stop of the Hampshire Road Race League.
The 10-mile race, which is organised by Lordshill Runners, will see around 550 runners take to the course.
Last year’s race winner Stuart Holloway of Salisbury returns as he looks to keep the pace with the frontrunners in the men’s individual league table.
Holloway will be aiming to beat his time of 52 minutes and 48 seconds, which he achieved in atrocious conditions in 2012.
In the ladies’ race, Erica Fogg will be defending the title she claimed with a run of 61 minutes 51 seconds last year.
However, she is sure to come under pressure from Winchester’s Kath Bailey, who will be looking to re-establish herself at the top of the women’s league, which is currently led by Jessica Barling of Lordshill.
In the team standings – Holloway was Salisbury’s saviour two weeks ago as he pushed them back into contention with a second place at the Solent half marathon, meaning they are just off Winchester at the top of the men’s league.
Salisbury are also in fine fettle in the women’s competition and sit near the top of division one after a second place at the Solent half.
The race gets under way at 10am this Sunday.
