Totton don't have to wait for promotion
They beat St Denys Conservative Club B 4-1 in a hastily arranged play-off after two teams dropped out of higher divisions.
It meant Mottisfont were NOT relegated to Division 3 – and an extra team had to be promoted.
The third and fourth-placed sides had identical records last season so they met on neutral territory at Shirley Conservative Club less than two weeks before the new campaign kicks off.
Totton Cons A led 2-1 before Paul Wyeth potted the green against Pete Fielder to clinch the decisive frame for the Summer Invitation Snooker League champions.
“I did see that Scott (Musselwhite) had won his game so I knew it was down to me,” said Wyeth. “We’d already talked beforehand and (Chris Jones) wasn’t feeling too confident about playing a decider.”
And he added: “It’ll be nice to play some different teams in different places in the heady heights of Division 2.
“Through the summer, we get to play a lot of better sides so it will be interesting to see how we fare next season. It should be good fun. I’m looking forward to it already.”
