Tribute to accident victim

A MUM has paid a touching family tribute to her son following his death in a motorcycle accident near Basingstoke.

David Lee, 33, of Northfield Road, Sherfield-on-Loddon, sustained fatal injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car, after losing control of his black Kawasaki motorcycle on the A33, as he travelled to work on Monday.

Mr Lee lived with his partner of 15 years, Lorna, and had two children, Sam, six, and Milly, four, who are pupils at Bramley Church of England Primary School.

Paying tribute to her son, his mother Jan said: "David was a very calm and caring person, who was devoted to Lorna, Sam and Milly. He was a rock' to me, his dad Terry, and his sister Tracey.

"The whole family is devastated that this could happen to such a special man, who will be missed so much by so many."

She added: "We loved David so much and there is such a big void in our lives. He did everything for us and could always sort out our problems."

The accident happened at 7.24am at the junction with Breach Lane, Sherfield-on-Loddon, as Mr Lee travelled northbound on the A33 on his way to the Prudential in Reading, where he worked in the IT department.

A police spokesman said Mr Lee lost control of the bike and was involved in a collision with a northbound black BMW, followed by a southbound red Ford Focus.

Neither the BMW driver, a 49-year-old man from Eastleigh, nor the Focus driver, a 20-year-old man from Reading, were injured.

Officers from the Farnborough Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision, or anyone who saw the Kawasaki travelling north on the A33 prior to the crash, to contact Farnborough Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545, quoting Operation Linford, or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
