Burglar assaults woman after raising her home in Winchester
A WOMAN was pushed aside by a burglar after she confronted him in a Winchester street, police said today.
The thief stole a laptop worth £1,000 and £50 cash from the address on St Swithun Street, and was seen walking away from the address on Sunday afternoon (September 9).
The owner of the property, a woman in her 30s, challenged him but he pushed her in the chest as he made off along Southgate Street. The victim was unhurt.
Police are appealing for information following the incident which happened at approximately 2.40pm.
Police staff investigator Jerry King said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the man matching the description running in the Southgate Street and St Thomas’ Passage areas around the time of the incident, to come forward.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this laptop or been offered it for sale. It is unusual and not available in the UK. I would urge anyone with any information to get in touch as soon as possible.”
The laptop, a white Apple Mac, was purchased in Spain and has Spanish keys. It is also password-protected.
The suspect is described as in his early 30s, mixed-race, around 6ft to 6ft 2ins and of medium to slim build. He had very short brown hair and a freckled or blemished face. The man was wearing a dark grey top and carrying a black rucksack.
Anyone with any information should call PSI King at North Walls police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
