Winchester welcomes government minister for meeting on foreign aid
A GOVERNMENT minister is coming to Winchester to discuss the UK’s overseas aid programme.
Winchester MP Steve Brine has arranged for Stephen O'Brien, a minister in the department for international development, to answer questions from residents on the issue of Britain’s aid budget at a public meeting.
Mr Brine said: “This is an issue about which I have received a huge amount of correspondence from across my constituency, with very passionate and considered views expressed on all sides.”
Mr Brine and Mr O’Brien will field questions on how money sent abroad for aid is used, and the benefits to the UK of providing overseas aid.
The meeting is to be held at St Paul’s Church, St Paul’s Hill, Fulflood on September 13.
Tickets, which are free, are required in order to attend. Visit www.stevebrine.com/ukaid, email steve.brine.mp@parliament.uk or call 01962 791110 to register.
