Pest control company secures exclusive use of pesticide

A WINCHESTER pest control company has secured exclusive use of a new pesticide.

Exosect, based in Colden Common, have obtained the licence for use of an isolate of the Beauveria bassiana (Bb) fungi to tackle pests in grain and food stores across Europe.

It follows a five-year Government research programme led by Exosect researching alternative insecticides.

Exosect managing director Martin Brown said: “This is another significant leap forward for this project. We know that the grain store industry is under immense pressure after the removal of a number of key insecticides and fumigants but we are on track to commercialise this exciting new technology into this sector in the near future.”
