THE City Space gallery at Winchester Discovery Centre is hosting the annual Mayor’s Choice exhibition.
Cllr Barry Lipscomb has the historic chain of office this year and has selected a range of artworks for the show.
Each Winchester mayor is able to choose pieces from the city museums’ collection for the event.
Cllr Lipscomb said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity as mayor to make a personal selection of paintings from the city council’s wonderful collection.
“I hope that visitors to the exhibition will share my fascination with the way generations of artists over the years have managed to capture the diversity and unique character of Winchester and the surrounding area.”
The paintings cover a period of 200 years and include pieces set in Wonston and Micheldever, which the mayor represents on the city council.
The Mayor’s Choice exhibition opens today (Saturday, February 11) and runs until Sunday, March 11. Entry is free.
