Alla Garside qualified for the Schools' Biathlon British Championships in March
A WINCHESTER school is celebrating after four of its pupils excelled in the regional biathlon championships.
Four girls from St Swithun’s Junior School travelled to the University of Bath last week for the Schools’ Biathlon Championship semi final.
The competition involved the 60 fastest girls from the south and south west of England swimming 50 metres and running 500 metres.
Alla Garside, a Year 6 pupil at St Swithun’s, finished in sixth place, qualifying for the British Championships held at Crystal Palace in March.
The Year 6 team at the school, including Alla, Emily Coulson and Natasha Smailes also placed sixth, while Alice Calder of Year 5 also finished well.
