SEVENTY new grit bins have been provided in Winchester town centre area by Hampshire County Council in the last year, the city council reported.
Alongside this, Winchester City Council reported, at a meeting of the full council on Wednesday January 11, that it on behalf of the town forum will provide a further five grit bins.
In response to a question raised by councillor Ian Tait (Lib Dem), the city council’s lead member for environment and transport councillor Victoria Weston said that new arrangements had been put in place by Hampshire County Council.
This includes an additional salt or grit storage area, purchasing additional equipment and making arrangements to work with farmers and landowners in the area.
