WINCHESTER parkrun is celebrating its fifth anniversary this spring and its 250th run tomorrow.
The community-run event at River Park has boosted public interest in running. It is free to enter and is held every Saturday.
It celebrates its fifth anniversary of 5km runs on Saturday April 28. This Saturday will be its 250th 5km event.
David Howells, one of the organisers, said: "We think that is quite an achievement - especially as all parkruns are organised entirely by volunteers and a completely free to enter.
"It is a great community activity and is very well-supported by Winchester City Council."
He said some runners were marking the birthday by raising funds for a defibrillator to be based at the River Park recreation ground.
