AROUND a dozen volunteers are being sought to help issue advice to residents in Winchester and Bishop’s Waltham.

Citizens Advice, which helps residents struggling with a range of problems, is looking for between six and 12 new volunteers to join in the Winchester district.

It is an independent, local charity and currently has over 60 volunteer advisers providing the backbone of their advice service.

Natalie Webb, chief officer, said: “Our volunteer advisers do an amazing job, helping over 6,000 people from all walks of life to resolve a huge variety of issues each year.

“One day they might be helping someone who’s in serious financial hardship get the right benefits and the next they might be giving advice to someone that has been unfairly treated at work.”

Citizens Advice are looking for people of all ages, backgrounds and experience to join. Training will begin in February and consist of two half-days a week for around 12 weeks.

Once trained an adviser is expected to volunteer for one full day or two half-days a week.

Anyone interested is asked to email advice@winchesterdistrictcab.org.uk or visit the Citizens Advice office in either Winchester or Bishop’s Waltham.
