HUNDREDS of Hampshire youngsters took to the stage in a bid to be named lords and ladies of the dance.

The O2 Guildhall Southampton has been packed with families and friends for this year’s Rock Challenge.

Schools from across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight including in Winchester, showcased their skills in a five to eight-minute performance.

A panel of judges looked for their skills in design, drama, performance and production.

Winchester schools had some success with Peter Symonds College achieving fourth place on February 14, and The King's School in front of them in third place.

Other schools in the area taking part were Stanmore Primary School and Kings Worthy Primary School.

The Mayor of Southampton Cllr Cathie McEwing, First Place prize presenter, said: “I’ve had a wonderful evening here at Rock Challenge®. The young people have been amazing: the music, the scenes, the discipline, and the costumes, just absolutely fantastic! Well done to all those young people and everyone involved with them.”
