A WINCHESTER man has avoided prison after making progress in tackling his drug problems.

Lee Broadbent was convicted in July by a jury of possessing 250g of cannabis, the city crown court heard.

He was arrested after police after throwing the drugs out of a window, the court was told.

Broadbent, 34, of Thurmond Crescent, Stanmore, had made progress addressing his problems, according to a pre-sentence report.

Judge Keith Cutler, Recorder of Winchester, sentenced him to a 12 month community order with 20 days rehabilitation activity and 60 hours unpaid work.
