WINCHESTER welcomed more than 20 Harley Davidson riders to the city

Hosted by the Brooks Shopping Centre, the bikes were parked in Middle Brook Street for visitors to look at.

Riders from Sussex's 1066 HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter also spoke about their rides.

Liz Marsden, marketing and communications manager at the Brooks, said: "We were really excited to be able to host the Harley Davidson Owners Group ride out last weekend. It was an unusual request but one that we were happy to grant."

All HOG chapters are sponsored by an official Harley Davidson dealership. John Shaw Harley Davidson sponsors 1066.

The chapter’s name is unique, as it is the only chapter with a number as its name.

It comes from their base town of Battle, which is named after the site of England’s last invasion by William the Conqueror.

In common with the other 37 UK chapters, 1066 have hosted foreign members from as far afield as Australia, South Africa and the USA. They are also twinned with the Lille chapter in France.

John Pedder, member of the chapter, said the everyone from the group enjoyed the ride out, adding: "A very important aspect of the HOG chapter organisation is the social side. Events and meetings take place throughout the year, while ride outs dominate the summer months."
