WINCHESTER'S Everyman Cinema hosted a dementia friendly screening of a classic film for the first time this week.
Elderly people with the condition were looked after by Home Instead Senior Care staff as they sang along to Singin' in the Rain on Wednesday.
After tea, coffee and cake, they were escorted to their seats by cinema staff and carers Shirley Duncome and Claire Boyd-Leslie.
Dementia friendly film screenings are an increasingly popular way for patients and carers to be entertained in relaxed surroundings. The idea came to Winchester through resident Fiona Mcintosh and was supported by Home Instead and the Dementia Friendly Winchester initiative, which encourages local businesses to accommodate those with the disease.
Organisers said a great time was had by all. Everyman Cinema will be hosting another screening of a classic film in November.
