PIGLET racing returns to Winchester this Sunday at the popular farmers' market.

The event celebrates the great Hampshire Hog.

Alex Handford, the market business manager said: “The Piglet Racing event was such a huge success last year, enjoyed by all especially the children, that we decided to run it again.

"The whole event is a great opportunity for us all to celebrate the award-winning food that the Hampshire Farmers’ Market brings to Winchester at our fortnightly markets and to give visitors a fun day out for all the family.”

There will be a pig-themed competition for children.

Pork producers will be presenting their produce, with plenty of hot food to go, including the hog roast, bacon and egg sausages, pork pies and newly launched charcuterie range from Ambrose Sausages.

The Hampshire Hog Day will be the centrepiece of the Hampshire Farmers’ Markets celebrations within the British Food Fortnight, which runs from September 19 until October 4.

The market and Hampshire Hog event takes place in the Middle Brook Street Car Park from 9am-2pm.

The piglet racing will be run between 10am until 1pm.
