HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a Winchester music event part-organised by local teenagers.
A team of ten youngsters helped plan, promote and stage Stanmore Live held at the Carroll Centre on Saturday.
The event largely dodged the showers and saw around 800 people over the day enjoying the acts.
Stanmore Live replaced Party in the Park which was previously organised by A2 Dominion housing association but was not going to be held this year One of the organisers was Eddie Maggs, 16, who also performed and was compere for the afternoon.
Eddie, of Abbey Hill Road, Fulflood, said: “It was the first time I have done anything like it. It went quite well. I was nervous the day before but on the day the adrenalin kicked in.”
He said: “We are really pleased with how it has gone. We had a limited budget but we started work in January and since then we have been having meetings every week.”
Event manager Neil Valentine, of Wavell Way, Stanmore, said: “It went great. It was high quality stuff. There were great performances all round. lots of teenagers hung around all day and had a good time.
“The team of young producers had a brilliant day. They were buzzing at the end. We hope it will happen again next year.”
Mr Valentine thanked the Carroll Centre and Winnall Rock School which provided the equipment.
