A BABY and mother were rescued and taken to hospital after their car collided with a tree in Winchester.
The woman, believed to be in her late 20s, was freed from the vehicle by firefighters after the alarm was raised.
Ambulance staff helped the baby, which was about 20-months-old, from the car and it was taken to hospital along with the woman.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, which happened at 9.51pm last night on Chilbolton Avenue.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The child was fine – it was in a child’s seat which has done the job.
“The female was extricated from the vehicle which was fairly difficult because of the position of the vehicle.
“She was taken to hospital and so was the baby.”
The woman was said to have lower leg injuries and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101.
