IT was the next piece of the puzzle for village historians in their mission to educate residents.
The Worthys Local History Group has teamed up with Headbourne Worthy Parish Council to create a history board about the village.
On Monday (April 13) it was unveiled at Taylor’s Corner – the junction of Bedfield Lane and London Road.
At the short ceremony Peter Finn, chairman of the history group, said the project aims to educate local people about where they live.

“This board is an aspect of a project we have to make our local history available for everybody,” he said.
“So we have started putting these boards up around the villages. This particular one tells of significant historical features of this little part of Headbourne Worthy.”
He also thanked Derek Brockway, member of the history group, for seeing the project through, Hampshire County Council’s sign workshop for creating the board and the parish council for funding it.
Resident of more than 40 years, Jean Merrikin (pictured above), cut the ‘ribbon’ before a round of applause from some 20 residents and councillors.
It is the third board to be unveiled in a month, after two were installed in Kings Worthy’s Eversley Park.
Mr Finn said there are plans for more across the villages, with one at St Mary’s Church in Kings Worthy in the pipeline.
