A TELEVISION legend is coming to Winchester to launch the benefit year of Hampshire cricket captain Jimmy Adams.

Sir Trevor McDonald will speak at Breaking News on April 24, the first of a series of events marking the 33-year-old’s contribution to the county sport.

Presented by St Cross Cricket Club, Adams’ lifelong team, the evening will be hosted at Winchester Holiday Inn by former Kent cricket president Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan.

Sir Trevor was the sole presenter of ITN’s News at Ten from 1992 to 2001. Until 2009, he hosted ITV’s lead current affairs programme, Tonight with Trevor McDonald.

His love of cricket is well known and he has followed the sport closely all his life. He has written biographies of iconic West Indian cricketers Clive Lloyd and Sir Vivian Richards and has just finished two years serving as President of Surrey CCC.

Tickets for the event, at Winchester’s Holiday Inn, cost £75 per person.
