TWO Winchester care homes have together raised more than £3,000 for charity in the past year.
Residents at Abbotts Barton and St Catherines View have held fetes, coffee mornings, dinners and raffles, as well as a string of sponsored events.
Dementia specialist home St Catherines View, in Stanmore Lane, collected nearly £1,200, most of which has been donated to the nearby Carroll Centre, which works with vulnerable families in the community.
The other causes to benefit were Sports Relief, Macmillan Cancer Support and Children in Need.
Abbotts Barton Home, in Worthy Road, raised more than £1,800 for Parkinson’s UK, the British Legion Poppy Appeal and Children in Need.
Activities Manager Karen Burdon said: “It’s entirely up to our residents which charities we support.
“Once the choice is made, we all get behind it.
“Team members like to take part in sponsored events, such as walks and bike rides, and we enable our residents to contribute directly in meaningful ways, such as making arts and crafts to sell at fundraising fetes.”
