WINCHESTER City Council has made a mistake in information that was published about plans to build elderly housing on a city centre car park.

Proposals originally stated the Extra Care Scheme, which is planned for the Chesil Street open air car park, would be two, three and four storeys.

A spokesman today said: “I am advised by colleagues in housing that there is a mistake in the information that was published.

“There is one small part of the proposed building that would be five storeys high and that should have been stated alongside two, three and four storeys.

“The council has updated its information, revised site notices and written directly to local residents to clarify the position.”

The scheme would have 52 units with associated communal facilities, and a respite day care centre, all set within landscaped grounds.

City planners received the planning application this week.

A target decision date has been set for February 13, 2015.
