TWELVE pupils at a Winchester school were chosen by a local artist as winners of a Christmas card competition.

Josephine Chisholm was asked to pick two winners from each class at All Saints Primary School from a shortlist of Christmas card designs.

The 12 winners, Madison and Joel from Class R, Max and Georgie from class 1, Ruben and George from class 2, Alfie and Lydia from class 3, Royan and Benjamin from class 4 and Kelly and Emma from class 5, were presented a selection box by the artist, in a special assembly.

Their Christmas cards were also made into a multi-pack which will be on sale at the school’s Christmas fayre on Friday, November 28.

Mrs Chisholm said: “I was delighted to be asked to judge the competition. There was a lot of colourful work, lots of imaginative pictures, and great expressive marks. All the children worked very hard. It was very difficult to choose a winner. They all deserved it.”

The school were very pleased to have the help of Mrs Chisholm. Headteacher Nicky Osborne said: “We have the Christmas card competition every year but this is the first time we have invited an external artist to judge and we are delighted that Josephine joined us.”

Wendy Jones, chair of The Friends Association of All Saints Primary School, said: “Josephine came and did a presentation for the children about pictures. The children were captivated. It reflects in the entries- all the children really got the point about pictures telling a story.

Class 4 winner Royan said: “To be honest, I didn’t know whether to pick Christianity or Christmas, so I combined them both.”

The parents of every pupil that entered the competition will have the opportunity to buy their child’s card design.

All money raised goes to The Friends Association.
