AN INMATE at Winchester prison was hospitalised after a suspected suicide attempt.
Paramedics were rushed to the prison on Thursday after an “act of self harm,” a prison service spokesman said.
The inmate, who has not been named, was treated at Royal Hampshire County Hospital and has since returned to jail.
The incident is believed to be an attempted hanging, but the spokesman would not discuss details.
She said: "A prisoner at HMP Winchester was taken to hospital on Thursday 16 October following an act of self harm.
"The prison is investigating the incident and police were informed as a matter of course. Nothing had been unlawfully taken into the cell by the prisoner.”
