MULTI-MILLION pound plans to build a new hospital between Winchester and Basingstoke have been delayed as health chiefs wait for the green light to consult the public.
West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group met on Thursday (Sep 25) to discuss their progress but agreed no action could be taken until the plans are ready for public display.
It is not known when the consultation, which has already been delayed by over four months, is set to begin.
Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust previously announced £120m plans to build a centralised hospital for its sickest patients, including stroke and heart attack victims, between Winchester and Basingstoke.
Health chiefs said the ‘critical treatment’ unit could be built in Basingstoke’s North Hampshire Hospital or in a new building between the M3, A303 and A34.
The public cannot have their say on the plans until a report from Wessex Clinical Senate presents evidence to support consultation. The report is expected next week.
