A NEWLY formed residents group in Alresford has won £1,000 funding.

The Nursery Road Residents Group was formed earlier this year in response to proposals to build nearly 400 new homes in the market town.

The money will be used to put up an information board in the road, which the group’s committee say is important in keeping residents informed.

Sam Kerr-Smiley, of the committee, said: “We need to improve the ways in which we reach out to residents and to ensure they all have their voices heard. Our information project will allow us to erect an all-weather notice board on Nursery Lane to get news and information to those who do not have Internet access or use social media and to help us create a website for the group for those that do.”

The funding is part of the Hampshire County Council Have Your Say scheme, and is administered by Winchester Area Community Action.

Alresford Town Council has agreed to hold and distribute the money.
