IT looks set to be a washout Bank Holiday with warnings of heavy rain.

Weather experts at the Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for Hampshire and other parts of the south east for rain as well as strong winds up to 40mph on the south coast on Monday .

This could put a dampener on a number of events.

Rainfall in the area looks set to be more than 20mm and in some places it could be as much as 40mm.

The Met Office said there will be a lot of surface water and spray on the roads made worse by the strong winds in the south and that there could be some impact on Bank Holiday traffic.

Events planned for Monday that could be hit by the bad weather include the Brockenhurst Carnival, a Supercar Showdown in the grounds of Beaulieu Motor Museum and Easton village fete, near Winchester.

The annual Stubbington Fayre, with its highlight attraction the Donkey Derby alongside a host of other family fun, games and entertainment, is also set for Monday.
