FIREFIGHTERS were called after a horsebox turned over following a road traffic collision near Winchester.

The incident occurred at 2.41pm on Sunday (July 27) involving two vehicles, one of which was towing the animal.

Three crews – from Basingstoke, Winchester and Overton – arrived at Stratton Crossover, southbound on the M3, to find the box on its side with the horse still inside.

The animal was attended to by the Animal Rescue Unit from Lyndhurst but was not hurt.

South Central Ambulance Service treated one male at the scene.

The road was cleared by 5pm.
