AN ELDERLY woman’s house was burgled as she slept last week.

The offenders entered the 81-year-old’s home on Snakemoor Lane, in Durley, between 5.30pm on Tuesday (July 22) and 7.30am on Wednesday (July 23).

They took a number of personal items including ornaments, jewellery, cash and two handbags.

Police Staff Investigator, Jackie Little, said: “This was a despicable incident where an elderly woman was targeted while she was asleep in her own home. It is likely that the offenders have used a car to remove the stolen items, and they have also taken a sofa cushion cover, possibly to carry the stolen goods.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who has been offered any ornaments or jewellery for sale.”

Anyone with information is urged to call 101.
