• A PLAN for a Gypsy pitch at Colden Common has been rejected by city council planners.

Officers used delegated powers to turn down the scheme by David James Peters for a touring caravan and mobile home plus hard standing at Little Ranch, Portsmouth Road, Fishers Pond.

Alison Burgess has been granted permission to change the ground floor of a property in Station Terrace to be used for residential purposes.

She has also been permitted to put in a two-storey and single-storey extension to the rear and the side and will develop an orangery.

A free trial offering low intensity FitSteps will be held at the community centre on April 30 from 1.30-2pm.

Instructor Abbie Jennings will host the taster session offering Latin and ballroom dances with proven fitness techniques.

  • WINCHESTER City Council will be offering help and support to residents and businesses affected in Twyford.

The council are collaborating with Winchester District Citizens Advice Bureau to put together a programme of clinics in some of the worst affected parishes throughout the region. Twyford Parish Council has suggested making one of the rooms available in the parish hall for a couple of hours where residents can raise any queries they might have.

Anyone with any questions or suggestions is urged to contact Elizabeth Billingham, clerk to Twyford Parish Council, so she can arrange dates to accommodate the number of people.

  • A PRACTICE in Twyford is aiming to create a database to list voluntary services throughout the district.

The Patient Participation Group at Twyford Practice is urging anyone who uses or runs any services related to health or social problems to provide them with their details.

The group plans to make a list of all the care services available within the villages and communities served by the practice, including contact details and activities, with a long-term plan of organising an information campaign.

  • THE Winchester and County Music Festival Concert will take place in Romsey Abbey on Saturday (May 17).

Compton and Shawford Festival Choir, together with Botley Choral Society, will be singing Chilcott’s Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise from 7.30pm.

The conductor will be David Burgess.
