VOLUNTEERS from across Hampshire will once again be taking part in the Winchester Colossal Cake Sale in support for Help for Heroes.

For the sixth year running the cake sale will be held on Saturday, March 29 between 9am-4pm at the Brooks Centre and St Maurice’s Covert, and, for the first time, this year will feature musical entertainment at the Buttercross.

Sarah Walker, local county co-ordinator for Help for Heroes is calling on local people to help by donating homemade cakes and biscuits, jams, chutneys and savouries.

The Colossal Cake Sale has grown from seven events in 2008 to over 700 last year.

Sarah said: “I have been involved with Help for Heroes since it started and know how invaluable your generosity and support is and what a huge difference it makes to the lives of our service personnel with life changing injuries. Even with all NATO operations due to finish in Afghanistan in 2014 all those wounded, injured and sick will still need support for many years to come.”

Emma Parry, CEO and co-founder for Help for Heroes, said: “H4H is all about doing your bit and this event is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated.”
