Detectives have completed a full investigation into an allegation of attempted abduction involving a nine-year-old boy in Norton, Malton, on February 13.

The boy reported that he was approached by an unknown man outside his home address between 7pm and 8pm on February 13, who then forced him to walk to the edge of town before he broke free and ran home.

North Yorkshire Police have carried out a thorough and extensive investigation and officers have established that the circumstances of the incident are not as initially reported and that there is no threat or danger to the wider community.

North Yorkshire Police thanked the people of Norton for the support their support to the investigation. A spokesman said: "We hope any associated concerns and fears within the community and beyond can now be allayed. The boy at the centre of the incident has received specialist police and partner agency support throughout the inquiry."

No further action will be taken.
