FINE dining was the name of the game at a event when people gathered for the Winchester mayor’s charities.

The fundraiser saw 120 people enjoy a specially designed three course meal at Brasserie Blanc on Jewry Street as its owner, Raymond Blanc, gave a speech to mark the occasion.

Mr Blanc said: “Winchester is both beautiful and historic, with a thriving business community and tourist industry, so naturally I wanted Brasserie Blanc to be a part of it.

"It's great to be able to support local good causes and we also work hard to forge really strong relationships with regional producers."

The Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Ernie Jeffs, and his wife Barbara said they were delighted with the fundraiser.

“The evening is certainly an evening the Mayoress and I will have as one of our special moments in time," he said. "We are extremely grateful to Raymond Blanc and his excellent team of friendly staff for devoting the evening to my charities”.
