WINCHESTER city residents are to be kept in the loop when it comes to developments.

Councillors agreed to a proposal for development plans to be discussed with individual wards at the town forum last week (January 22).

Exhibitions have already been rolled out across Winchester villages such as Kings Worthy and Colden Common as part of the city council’s local plan part one.

But some councillors said they were concerned that such discussions could lead to a one-size-fits-all approach.

Cllr Chris Pines said: “I’m increasingly worried about the decision we seem to be taking.

“It seems to be one-size-fits-all and each of the areas we represent differ in places. All of those areas have different needs and this idea that we can get away with a quick meeting is just not on. There are a multitude of issues here at different levels.”

Chairman Robert Hutchison said: “It’s to give people in wards an update on city-wide issues.”
