MAJOR roads in Hampshire are closed this morning as flooding creates havoc for commuters.

This morning's storm and high winds is set to last until lunchtime, say weather forecasters.

In Winchester the River Itchen remains high and is lapping over the banks in Water Lane and The Weirs but does not appear to be any immediate threat to nearby houses.

The footpath along The Weirs was this morning closed to the public.

Flood water has blocked the A338 between Fordingbridge and Breamore while the A3055 at Morton Common in the Isle of Wight is still closed both ways between B3329 Avenue Road and Morton Road. Motorists can also expect delays of up to 20 minutes on the A3334 between Stubbington and Titchfield due to flooding and Titchfield Hill between East Street and Mill Street is closed.

Flooding is also causing delays on Wallington Shore Road and East Hill Close in Fareham, on the A32 School Road in Wickham at B2177 Southwick Road junction and the A3090 Winchester Road in Romsey under the railway bridge between Southampton Road and Botley Road.

Debris is also strewn across the A31 Poulner Hill near Ringwood causing delays and hazards for motorists.
