Schools set to close for teachers' strike tomorrow
THOUSANDS of students across Winchester will have a day off tomorrow as teachers prepare to go on strike.
Though many schools across the district have declared themselves open, parents and pupils will have to make alternative arrangements while industrial action takes place as part of national action involving members of the NUT and NASUWT.
Kings' has said it will be fully open to all years, while Perins, Henry Beaufort and The Westgate will only be partially open.
The Westgate will accommodate years 10 and 11 only, while Perinswill open for years seven and eight but will not be providing classes. Henry Beaufort will be open to year 11 only.
However, Swanmore College of Technology has confirmed it will be closed to all students throughout the day, as has Peter Symonds College.
However, Peter Symonds has confirmed that this is a staff training day in line with their open evenings on Wednesday and Thursday (October 16-17).
The following primary schools have confirmed to the Chronicle they will be open to all years: Cheriton Primary School, Durley C of E Primary School, Harestock Primary School, Kings Worthy Primary School, Meonstoke C of E Primary School, Osborne School, Shepherds Down School, St Bede C of E Primary School, Stanmore Primary School, Swanmore Primary School, Twyford St Mary’s Primary School, Upham C of E Primary School, Weeke Primary School, West Meon C of E Primary School, Winnall Primary School.
