A WINCHESTER man who was twice in six weeks caught drink driving near his home has been banned from for 22 months.

Mark Younger, 45, was stopped by police in Christchurch Road on November 29, magistrates in Basingstoke heard.

His alcohol reading was 83 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, more than double the legal limit.

Then on January 4 Younger was stopped in a 56-reg Audi A3 in Garnier Road, St Cross; his alcohol reading was 61, the court heard.

Younger, of St Cross Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving with excess alcohol. As well as the driving ban he was fined £220, ordered to pay costs of £170 and a £20 victim surcharge.

He was also fined £30 for failing to surrender at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on February 12. The 22-month ban will be shortened by 23 weeks if Younger completes an approved course by May 5 2014.
